Real Food Story: Cynthia McCulloch

We’re excited to introduce you to Cynthia McCulloch, a very active 60-year-old wife, mother, and grandmother here in Dallas.  She enjoys taking care of her family, her home, and cooking.  We started working with Cynthia almost 4 years ago, and it’s been wonderful to see how much stronger and healthier she has become!  Here is her story…

cynthia-3Before I started working with Craig Keaton at The Movement Dallas three-and-a-half years ago, I never really liked exercise.  I water-skied and snow-skied when I was younger, but my family jokes that we’re all “non-athletical”.   I never really felt this great need to exercise.  When we lived in Arlington, my husband W.L. and I started taking walks from our house to the nearby gym, which was about a mile-and-a-half.  After we moved to Dallas 4 years ago, we reconnected with Craig, who was a family friend.  I asked him if there was a place here in Dallas where I could work out and if he could train me.  I told him, “I don’t like to sweat and I don’t like to get tired!”  Once I started working with him, he started telling me all the right things to do for my body.

The first year, we worked mostly on movement – just getting my body to move.  We did a few lightweight exercises and started using the resistance bands.  I had never really “worked out,” so we started really slow.  He didn’t push me too hard at the beginning, but he would increase it a little bit each time.  Now, three-and-a-half years later, I can dead lift the largest kettle bell which is 88 lbs!   I really have gotten a lot stronger. I love that he changes it every time.  For me that keeps it so much more interesting.

I’ve also seen a difference in the way I look.  I’ve slimmed down and am a lot leaner than I was.  The NutriHarmony supplements have really helped.  I drink Enfusia, and I also take LifeCode, the MultiVitamin, Fiber, Fat Loss Maximizer and Calcium.   Fat Loss Maximizer is my favorite!  It’s helped me get leaner, especially my thighs and waist.  I’m back where I was in my 40s.

My favorite part about working out at The Movement studio is how bright it is with all the windows.  It’s also a fairly private place to work out.  You don’t feel like you have to put on a show for everyone.  I also love the nutrition training.  I can ask Craig questions while I work out, and I get more than just a workout.  We talk about recipes, and I can ask questions about certain foods or brands or where to get something.  And then I also love availability of the co-op – the raw milk and cheeses. When people come to my home, they’ll ask me why I eat certain things, and I’ve been able to introduce a lot of my friends to healthier foods, especially for breakfast.

I can definitely say that I feel better and look better today.  I act better as a grandmother, I can move better, and I have more energy.   I don’t have all these aches and pains.  And I think, “If I can lift an 88 lb weight, I can lift my grandchildren or lift that box.” I’m still improving, too.  In fact, Craig just increased all my weight and reps yesterday!  But he does that so I can keep moving forward.

So for anyone out there who wants to feel better and have more energy, or even if you have aches and pains, I would encourage you to try working with The Movement.  It just makes you feel so much better.  Come in for an evaluation, and I know they can help you if you’ll let them!  But you need to make it a priority.  It has made all the difference in how I feel, so it’s definitely a priority in my life.
