Feast or Famine

Would you classify this country as living through a famine? Well I certainly would, and worst of all it is a self-inflicted famine! If you think I am crazy keep going with me and read on…

famine - an acute insufficiency, an insufficient quantity

insufficientof a quantity not able to fulfill a need or requirement

So now you might be saying that we don’t have an insufficient quantity of food. No, but we do have an insufficient quantity of nutrients! Only one hundred years ago the average orange had a Vitamin C content of 60 mg per orange. Today the average orange has a Vitamin C content of only 5 mg! That is a major insufficiency and that is just Vitamin C. Nutrient loss in our foods has been dramatic over the last 50 years.

Let’s look at a few examples of how much nutrition is missing in just our vegetables alone – Magnesium down 60%, Iron down 80%, and Potassium down 90% – You don’t have to be a doctor to know that those are all very key to great health.

Americans are overfed and undernourished – This means most Americans are living in famine. We must have this nutrition (vitamins, minerals, etc…) in order to sustain a vital life. The more nutrients we lose the more vitality we lose.

Again, Americans are overfed and undernourished – 2/3 of Americans are overweight yet at the same time starving for nutrients. You will continue to overeat if your food has little to no nutrients. Why? Because your brain is always in pursuit of nutrition. Your brain will tell you to keep eating until you have what you need.

Give your body what it needs and your body will give you what you want!
